Tomb of Cicero open: Sunday 18 October 2026
The mausoleum on the Via Appia opens for free on Sunday 18 October, 2:30–6:30 pm, self-guided. Groups over 20 people should book.
On Sunday 18 October 2026, from 2:30 to 6:30 pm, the Tomb of Cicero opens to the public with free, self-guided entry. It is one of the special openings scheduled by the regional directorate of national museums of Lazio: the monument is usually closed.
The mausoleum stands on the Via Appia at km 139, on the edge of Formia. Tradition links it to Marcus Tullius Cicero, killed in 43 BC between Formia and Gaeta. Groups of more than 20 people are advised to book at drm-laz.muformia@cultura.gov.it.
The next opening is Sunday 1 November, 9:30 am–1:30 pm.
