The historic district where alleys and houses still follow the traces of the ancient city.

Castellone is one of the most interesting historic centers in Formia. The district preserves a compact layout, narrow passages, and medieval evidence, while parts of the ancient Roman theatre have been incorporated into buildings constructed in later centuries.

More than a single isolated monument, here one can read the overlapping of the Roman city, the village, and the modern settlement. The route should be approached with respect for the residential spaces and without expecting every remain to be freely visitable.
